On
July 30, US Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta welcomed Jennifer
L. Dorn to the US Department of
Transportation (DOT) following her unanimous confirmation by the US Senate as
Federal Transit Administrator. "Jenna
brings a wealth of federal government and private sector experience with
her," said Secretary Mineta. "Her strong background in transportation
will make her a valuable asset to the federal transit program and the
Department’s senior management team." This is
Dorn’s third presidential appointment. Previously,
she served as the assistant secretary for policy at the Department of Labor
under President George H.W. Bush, and was the associate deputy
secretary of transportation at USDOT during the Reagan administration.
She also served as director of USDOT’s Office of Commercial Space
Transportation from 1983 to 1985, and from 1991 to 1998 she was senior vice
president of the American National Red Cross.
Most recently, she was president of the National Health Museum.
As the top
official at the Federal
Transit Administration, Ms. Dorn will lead a 500-employee agency and manage a
nearly $7 billion annual budget that supports public transit services across the
United States. Top] |
